Tottenham striker Kazaiah Sterling has joined Sunderland on loan until the end of the season.

With Mauricio Pochettino’s attacking options limited throughout January, Sterling has been called into the first-team squad in recent weeks.

The 20-year-old was among the subs in the Premier League victory over Fulham before coming off the bench with Spurs chasing the game in their FA Cup defeat to Crystal Palace.

Spurs have now allowed their academy product to head out on loan for the remainder of the season, joining Sunderland to help in their Championship promotion bid.

He comes into replace Josh Maja, who scored 15 League One goals before leaving the Stadium of Light to join Bordeaux earlier this month.

His departure leaves Fernando Llorente has Tottenham’s only recognised centre-forward, with Vincent Janssen not in Pochettino’s squad.

Tottenham and Chelsea however have discussed a shock deal for striker Michy Batshuayi, but Spurs are refusing to meet the Blues' valuation of the striker.
