A grand house in Norfolk with royal neighbours including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge has been sold by Knight Frank.

Grade I-listed Wolterton Hall was built by Thomas Ripley for the 1st Baron Walpole in the 1740s. In recent years it has hosted many events such as concerts and antique fairs and become a popular wedding venue.

The present Lord Walpole has parted ways with the property and after nearly a year on the market for a rumoured £10 million it has been bought by Peter Sheppard and his partner Keith Day. The pair used to own design firm Sheppard Day.

The pair have a history of fine building restoration including The Friary in Westminster, 33 Fitzroy Square and Hales Hall and Hales Hall Barn in south Norfolk, whose restoration won joint first prize from CPRE (Campaign to Protect Rural England) in 2015. They plan to breathe fresh life into Wolterton Hall.
