A long-time royal favourite, The Goring Hotel in Belgravia was where the Middleton clan pitched camp, across the road from Buckingham Palace, on the eve of Kate’s wedding to Prince William.

Now, overlooking its private gardens, a recently renovated five-bedroom townhouse has come on to the market in Victoria Square for £6.1 million, through Hathaways.

Designed by architect Sir Matthew Wyatt in the late 1830s to celebrate the start of Queen Victoria’s reign, the Regency-style house has a wealth of period features that have been carefully preserved.

It is near the former home of James Bond author Ian Fleming, who lived in Victoria Square for 11 years until his death in 1964.
