As coronavirus lockdown traps us indoors, we are turning in huge numbers to Amazon, spending nearly £9,000 a second on its products and services – and cementing the position of Jeff Bezos, founder and chief executive of the American giant, as the world’s richest man.
Now Bezos, whose net worth is believed to be £115 billion, has bought a three-bedroom penthouse at 212 Fifth Avenue in New York, above the triplex and two apartments that he already owns on the level below.
It brings the total of his investments in the Manhattan skyscraper to £77.1 million.
Apparently he plans to merge the four homes into one dream property, after filing for building permits last autumn.
