A man is fighting for his life after being knifed in the head, neck and back when a fight broke out inside a £700-a-table lap-dancing club.

The victim, 29, was partying with three friends at The Red Rooms in Holborn when an argument broke out with another man in the early hours of Sunday morning.

CCTV footage is said to show the suspect stab the reveller in the face with a pocket knife.

The knifeman is seen folding the pocket knife before stashing it away and leaving the club. His victim remains in an induced coma following surgery to stop his neck bleeding.

Police have criticised The Red Rooms’ management claiming their records showed staff had not called 999 following the attack.

Licensing officer Pc Dean Patrick said police were called by paramedics to the reports of a man being bottled at 5am on Sunday.

“The victim stated that a verbal argument started between himself and the suspect,” he said. “He then saw the suspect produce a pocket knife and then stab him in the face.

“CCTV shows the argument, then the suspect picks up a glass tumbler from the bar, it is not clear where the tumbler ended up. The suspect then makes downward stabbing motions.

“The suspect is then seen folding a presumed pocket knife and putting it in his trouser pocket.”

Camden councillors voted to suspend the club’s licence with immediate effect last Thursday. A review will be held within 28 days.

The club declined to comment. There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.
