A new video released by Western Union sends an inspiring message to young girls that ‘the race is on’ for equality.

The advert begins showing several girls from different countries around the world when a voice says: ‘Ok girls, the race is on’.

The girls then begin running through their streets in the race to be ‘the first female to run the United Nations’, as well as the United States.

In tribute to International Women’s Day, the video was released alongside a study that found 68 per cent of women say girls need to be encouraged to speak up more to advocate for themselves.

The majority – 72 per cent – said they feel men and boys still consider themselves to be superior to women, while 68 per cent said society expects women to take on responsibilities that men are not pressured to.

Western Union adds that it believes ‘every girl should be in the race’ for equality and that ‘it starts with education’.
