Kate Middleton stepped out wearing a Gucci blouse apparently back to front

She still looked fabulous, of course

Gucci fans spotted it. Did you? The Duchess of Cambridge stepped out on Tuesday to visit the Henry Fawcett Children’s Centre in Kennington during which she wore a gorgeous violet Gucci blouse. Complete with a very Princess Diana pussy-bow detail, Kate looked perfectly put together - however a couple of beady-eyed fans noticed that she was actually wearing her blouse backwards.

Fans with knowledge of the design pointed out that the Duchess was wearing her blouse the wrong way round on social media, comparing it to product images of the original £790 Gucci blouse.

Kate - accidentally or deliberately - opted to wear hers with the buttons along the front of the shirt, whereas in the original product image, the blouse was styled the other way around, with the buttons along the back.

Fans also noted that the cuffs on Kate's top were awkwardly facing forwards, rather than to the back and sides, like the product image suggested.

People speculated that perhaps the top was customised with a front button closure for the Duchess, which wouldn’t be unusual for a member of the royal family. Many royals have close relationships with designers; Givenchy’s Claire Waight Keller is known to work closely with Meghan Markle, for example.

The £790 top is also available in a striking green and you can still purchase both shades on NET-A-PORTER - whichever way you wish to wear it.

Kate paired her top with a pair of high-waisted Jigsaw trousers and a miniature faux croc bag by Aspinal of London. While her lilac version is already sold out, there's a very similar taupe one still available below.

This glossy faux croc bag comes in five shades, including black, Amazon brown, Bordeaux burgundy and Topaz blue, and can be personalised with a name or initials.

Yesterday evening, there were no sartorial 'mistakes', however. To the Portrait Gala at the National Portrait Gallery, the Duchess, who is patron of the iconic museum, arrived in a floor-sweeping gown by her wedding dress designer Alexander McQueen.
