Prince William and Kate Middleton like to holiday in style. From skiing at Courchevel, a French resort beloved by the Clooneys and the Beckhams, and a reported stay at the five star Walserhof hotel, for their latest vacation the couple returned to the Caribbean island of Mustique for a £56,000 stay - and that’s just for the villa.

The Cambridge family reportedly stayed in a lavish five bedroom villa on the island they've visited multiple times before. The Sun reported that Kate and William spent two weeks on the remote Caribbean island, booking in at the Villa Antilles which costs £27,000 per week.

The villa is a paradise haven decorated by British interior design firm Finchatton - William is reportedly friends with Finchatton founder and Villa Antilles owner Andrew Dunn.

Featuring an 18 metre infinity pool and jacuzzi which overlooks Bequia and St Vincent, the space also comes with a private bar, professional-grade kitchen, sprawling terraces and every bedroom has its own private bathroom. The villa can be seen in a video tour below.

The villa is tastefully styled with beachy references, including a blue and coral colour scheme, huge crisp white patio couches as well as seashells and starfish dotted throughout the space.

Described as a “contemporary colonial style villa”, if the Cambridges decided to head for a spot of scuba diving they could have used the villa jeep or two Kawasaki Mules to get around the island.

Given that the villa is located on one of the most exclusive islands in the world, it’s a rare spot of respite for the family who make headlines wherever they go.

Jeanette Cadet, an employee of the island, told Country & Townhouse in July 2018, “‘Even Kate [the Duchess of Cambridge] can go off for her morning run without her security detail.”

A source described the royals’ love of the space to The Sun, saying, “The kids who have stayed there before absolutely love the bunk beds and child-friendly facilities. As the villa is fully staffed they can also ask for whatever they want, whenever they want.”

Villa Antilles is one of the newer properties on the island, dating back to just 2016, and is actually one of the more low-key villas on Mustique.

Another villa in a similar price range is Toucan Hill, which is described as a “hilltop Moroccan palace” and a “Tuscan Hillside Villa” called Hibiscus designed by one of Mustique’s original architects Arne Hasselqvist.

One of the most opulent villas on the island is actually one with close ties to Prince William, as it used to belong to his great aunt Princess Margaret. Called Les Jolies Eaux (seen below), the ten acres of land that it was built on were actually an engagement present from the island’s owner Colin Tennant, the third Lord Glenconner.

Tennant asked Princess Margaret if she wanted “something in a small box from Asprey, or a piece of Mustique as a wedding present” and naturally, she chose Mustique.

While on her honeymoon with Lord Snowdon, she eventually visited and then commissioned stage and interior designer Oliver Messel to bring Les Jolies Eaux to life. Messel would then go on to build many other villas on the island.
