Gregory’s Girl star in comedy revival of The Ladykillers

Gregory’s Girl star John Gordon Sinclair is to appear in a revival of The Ladykillers — despite not finding the original film funny.

The actor, 51, joins a cast including Ralf Little and Angela Thorne as Father Ted writer Graham Linehan’s adaptation of the Ealing Comedy returns to the West End.

Sinclair said he was looking forward to playing Professor Marcus, the mastermind of a criminal plot ultimately foiled by old lady Mrs Wilberforce — Alec Guinness’s role in the 1955 film.

But he admitted: “I never really found the Ealing Comedies terribly funny… What is good about this is it seems to have upped the ante on the humour side.”

The Ladykillers, Vaudeville Theatre, from June 29.
