Orford Mews in Walthamstow: boutique development of nine eco-homes to have living walls and zero energy bills

The official launch is in September with completion due next year.

With an accent on low-carbon construction, Orford Mews in Walthamstow is part of a healthier post-Covid future.

The timber-clad homes — eight family houses and a three-bedroom flat — will be set around a community garden with edible plants, for foraging.

“Living” walls and moss roofs will improve air quality, while the south-facing scheme will be powered entirely by renewable energy, meaning tiny or zero utility bills.

There’s a wellbeing centre, a “reuse” facility for donating or swapping goods, and contemporary architecture chimes well with the scheme’s eco-credentials. Prices from £600,000.

The official launch is in September with completion due next year. Register at orfordmews.co.uk.
