Key workers earning less than £90,000 a year will be eligible for the Lanark Road scheme, which includes 73 homes starting at £177 a week for a one-bedroom flat.

In leafy Maida Vale, The Masefield is Westminster City Council’s first private residential development, with 31 flats and a new care home for the elderly.

Named after John Masefield, Poet Laureate 1930-1967, the building suits the neighbourhood with its stone-and-brick façade, balconies and full-height windows.

Elsewhere in Maida Vale, in Lanark Road, a scheme of 73 rental homes for key workers has been unveiled by housing association Dolphin Living.
