Oak armchair
We are looking for chairs that turn into beds and also for a folding table for our attic which is accessed by stairs of only 63cm wide.
AS, Aberdeen.

The Futon Company, 0845 609 4455, futoncompany.co.uk, has two flat-packed chairs that could be assembled in your attic: an armless chair with birch frame, from £289; and an oak armchair (right), from £389, both of which convert into a bed.

For tables, the Stow drop-leaf table, at £249, by Matthew Hilton for Habitat, 0844 499 4686, habitat.co.uk, is 29cm long when folded, extending to a generous 170cm. John Lewis, 0845 604 9049, johnlewis.com, stocks the Butterfly folding table, 32cm long extending to 132cm; with four matching chairs that can be stored within it, it costs £199. The Leksvik flat-packed drop-leaf table, £89, from Ikea, 0845 358 3364, ikea.co.uk, would also fit.

If the table can be left up once in place, a trestle table is worth considering. Ikea and Habitat stock these, or try the trestle table with glass top, £375, by Terence Conran for The Conran Shop, 0844 848 4000, conranshop.co.uk.
