Scrolling through Instagram, it seems the Scandi-inspired neutrals trend that has dominated stylish London homes since Danish crime drama The Killing hit our screens in 2011, might be losing its crown.

Flashes of bold colour, over-the-top accessories and clashing patterns have replaced natural wood and grey-painted minimalism.

A subtle feature wall is no longer the only way to add some colour, with homeowners choosing to stamp their personality with clashing brights in all rooms of the house.

Going bold with your workspace is also a great way to build up motivation when working from home, a tip that New Jersey native Kelly from @studiodiy heeded when she overhauled her studio.

Colourful ombré pastel shades add a pretty pop of colour to the room. She finished the look off with lots of vibrant accessories.

Alternatively, if you're not brave enough to give your house a full Technicolour makeover just yet, make over your garden shed like stylist and YouTuber Emily from @mermaidgossip.

She isn't afraid of using colour — as you can tell from her pastel hair on her Instagram grid.

She has transformed her plain wooden summer house into a colourful pink and blue masterpiece with tropical pineapple and flamingo accessories.
