Chandelier in dining room
My metal chandelier is too deep for a room in our new house. The cable runs through a central support and needs to be shortened and re-run. I’ve asked at several outlets to have this work done but without success.
JO, Windsor.

Lighting shops may not take on an alteration like this but, if it’s simply a matter of shortening the cable, any qualified electrician can do it. If an adjustment to the central support also needs to be made, you could take the chandelier to lighting repair specialists W Sitch & Co, 48 Berwick Street, London W1F 4JD, 020 7437 3776, This workshop takes on any adjustment, from re-wiring to more complex alterations, on every kind of light fitting.
