London is launching itself into big, bold floral designs on fabric, wallpaper, china and linen to coincide with the Chelsea Flower Show.

Within this trend are two opposing looks: expansive, airy, watercolour washes and loose, swirling brush strokes; or moody, detailed artwork showing every vein and stamen.

A touch of noir is on trend with inky backgrounds, just like summer’s fashions. The big brands have radically revised archive patterns, while digital printing is the joy of young designers who are increasingly launching their own edgy brands.

You can add petal power to safe, neutral rooms with easy, affordable updates such as cushions, lamp shades, plates or pillowcases. Or go for a full-on feature wall, statement sofa, or super-soft rug.
