From September 16 to 24, London Design Festival 2017 (LDF2017) is set to transform key districts across the capital with over 400 events, free installations and exhibitions.

Included are Chelsea, Brompton and Brixton in the south west; Bankside, running along the Thames from Borough Market to Oxo Tower Wharf; Islington in the north; and Shoreditch and Clerkenwell in east central London.

New this year are Pimlico Road and Mayfair, in south west and west London, which takes the number of design quarters to nine and makes the 15th instalment of the festival its largest ever offering.

So you could wander around your local design district, pick up one of the little red guides from a festival venue and choose from hundreds of free pop-up events taking place all around you.

Or, you can kickstart your LDF2017 experience by heading to a major show. Even the trade fairs have public opening nights, perfect for interior design inspiration, the lowdown on latest trends and one-off show discounts...

There are five main shows to watch out for:

designjunction, King's Cross (Thursday 21 - Sunday 24)
Open to public and trade professionals throughout
Returning to King's Cross for the seventh year, designjunction's visitors can expect a mix of furniture, lighting and technology brands alongside pop-up shops, small and large-scale installations.
