CeraVe Moisturising Cream

Sometimes I like a preamble; other times I just like to get stuck in: CeraVe Moisturising Cream is by far the best body lotion I have ever used.

Reassuringly boring packaging, excellent bang for buck, neither new nor sexy, just excellent.

CeraVe is a range built on ceramides, namely lipids that help skin retain moisture and bolster its barrier. They are essential in protecting against irritants and aggressors (environmental, not human, although…) and pollution. A depleted ceramide supply can cause itchiness, dryness and general f***ery. CeraVe is also rich in hyaluronic acid, the great ‘plumper’ that attracts hydration to the skin’s surface, giving it a fighting chance of achieving a smoother surface. And it’s hypoallergenic and fragrance-free, so plough on if you’re a sensitive sort.

I had developed tiny dry patches on my shoulder (random), which modest handfuls of this stuff have duly dispatched. Thirsty skin gulps it up, too. I can’t bear hopping from foot to foot waiting for some greasy lotion to sink in.

And I am enjoying the unscented aspect. There are any number of masterfully scented moisturisers out there, but I’m finding the fragrance-free thing… freeing.

CeraVe is a keeper. Oh, and its cleansers are brilliant, too.
