Pimlico Road is upfront, personal and posh and its independent shop owners offer expertise, commissions, and gossip. Buildings bristle with Blue Plaques and a bronze of a boy Mozart plays his violin under the plane trees. Little Wolfgang Amadeus wrote his first two symphonies in Ebury Street.

1 Nicholas Haslam at 12-14 Holbein Place (020 7730 8623) for antiques, and 202 Ebury Street (020 7730 0445) for décor for cool abodes (nicholashaslam.com).
Love: sea shells dipped in silver, £80-£400; humorous hounds in white plaster/ceramic, about 40cm high.

2 “Belgravia Christmas Sunday” (grosvenorlondon.com) is on December 4, noon to 5pm, with the Three Wise Men on camels. Find food, crafts, choirs, bands, and, of course, wonderfully decorated shops.
Love: Gingerbread House, £6.99, from Peggy Porschen Cakes at 30 Elizabeth Street (020 7730 1316; peggyporchen).

3 Antiques shops (thepimlicoroad.com) abound, and dealers are legion — about 20 high-end specialists, more Antiques Road Show than Flog It! But the real McCoy does not come cheap.
Love: Talisman at 190-192 Ebury Street (020 7730 7800; talismanlondon.com) for eclectic, offbeat accessories and furniture.

4 Linley at 60 Pimlico Road (020 7730 7300; davidlinley.com) has been revamped but it’s still the same paradise of perfect woodwork.
Love: walnut pencil gift box, £15; photo frames in leather, wood, shagreen and marquetry.

5 Soane at 50-52 Pimlico Road (020 7730 6400; soane.co.uk) is the acme of British bespoke furniture, lighting and accessories, in magical materials from timber, stone and leather to resins and Perspex.
Love: goatskin Ottoman scribe cushion, £200.

6 Joanna Wood at 48a Pimlico Road (020 7730 5064; joannawood.com) is Christmas unchained, and very reasonably priced with gifts/decs galore. Faux fur is de rigueur.
Love: candle snuffer, £12.75, and stag check cushion, £56.

7 Pimlico Farmers’ Market (lfm.org.uk) is Saturdays, 9am to 1pm, for organic fresh fruit and veg, cheeses, bread, pies, jams, pheasants, oysters, Christmas cakes and Xmas puddings.
Love: Lardy Da’s home-made free- range pork pies, second Thursday of the month (lardyda.co.uk); and “stollen” home-made German cakes at Pamela Abraham’s Out of the Box.

8 Daylesford at 44B Pimlico Road (020 7881 8060; daylesfordorganic.com) has elevated organic into a chic lifestyle. Downstairs there’s food from its own farm, including home-made meals to go and a deli. Upstairs, take in the café, homeware and Christmas decorations. Six types of Christmas cake, from £14.99. Fill-your-own gift boxes. Wrapping/delivery service.
Love: the Complete Christmas Dinner for Six, in a box, £100.
