Founded by four partners at the University of Edinburgh - Joshua Ward, Maxwell Wood, William Symington and Ciaran Dawson - Tala is a young British lighting brand making waves in the design world.
Now a team of 16, the brand has an impressive 33k followers on instagram and products stocked by Heal's and Selfridges. After recently launching their products in the United States, the company is set to sell 500,000 lighting units this year.

What you get:
Eco-conscious, retro-inspired light bulbs that minic the distinctive design of old incandescents but with a simple, elegant aesthetic and LED technology.
Tala's mission is 'to create the world's most beautiful light bulb' while remaining committed to sustainability. For every 200 units sold, Tala plants 10 trees - so you can take comfort from investing in a brand passionate about keeping their products carbon negative.
This year's Design Junction exhibition, from 22-25 September, will see Tala present an interactive installation resembling a canopy to showcase their latest LED filament bulbs.
Why we like it:
The brand's instagram is all about clean, minimalist design. Tala does a lighting "retrofit" each month, kitting out independent businesses, with stunning results. The brand takes suggestions of businesses from their instagram followers - we love the inclusive feel (and the "10 trees" programme is a massive win for sustainability).
Watch out for:
The team are hosting an event during this year's London Design Festival on 23 September. Head to The Collective Temperance Hospital in Camden, NW1 2LS, from 7pm. You'll need to RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
