Thanks to bright splashes of colour and eye-popping patterns, geometric designs can transform a room.

Designer Henry Holland took inspiration from geometrics earlier this year when he showcased bold colours and enlarged prints for his Autumn/Winter collection at London Fashion Week.

So with winter on the horizon, Seventies-inspired designs are strutting their stuff on the high street with a very modern revamp of larger, less traditional patterns bringing geometrics bang up to date.

But with this trend, remember: less is more. Choose a few statement accessories and the right backdrop, rather than using the theme in every room.

Go bold with a triangular abstract pattern for a contemporary vibe. Adding a simple duvet cover or cushion is a simple way to update a room on a budget.

Alternatively, add interest to a room with 3D printed wallpaper or a multi-coloured rug.
