A stand-up comedian decided to reimagine the Thomas the Tank Engine characters as Leavers or Remainers on Twitter, and people are finding it hilarious.

The thread by Sooz Kempner broke down each character from the children's television series, concluding which way they would have voted in 2016.

Thomas and Henry were both labelled Remainers, along with Percy, James, Edward, Bertie, Douglas and the Fat Controller.

The leave voters were Gordon, Diesel, Duck, Donald and Harold.

Toby did not bother voting, according to the thread, because he thinks "politicians are all the same".

The thread sparked conversation and debate over each character. One user said: "Gordon is a typical negative Vote Leave curmudgeon. Also denies climate change because he once got stuck in the snow, thus disproving global warming. Right-wing snowflake."

Another said: "S***. I think I'm Percy. The fact that I have referred to myself so often in this tweet makes me think it even more."

And one quipped: "What about the Magic Roundabout? How did they vote?"
