The Winter Decorative Antiques & Textiles Fair, January 19-24, Battersea Evolution, Battersea Park, SW11.

After 30 years, this fair has become compulsive viewing for all interiors addicts, as the stock from 140 specialist dealers has been selected especially for furnishing.

There are good basics — furniture, lighting, china, glass and textiles — and the unexpected, including taxidermy, fossils and enamel shop signs.

Organiser David Juran says the trend is industrial, with metal chairs, factory lights and wooden workshop benches.

The tri-annual foyer displays take a special theme. This winter it is chairs, above. Contrast the formal high-back armchairs of the 17th century and elegant Georgian classicism with the simplicity of Arts & Crafts, daring mid-century modern and exuberant Memphis.

Admission is £10. Show this paper for a two-for-one ticket offer, or register online for free tickets.
