Roman Kemp has paid tribute to his late friend Joe Lyons by getting a tattoo to match one the producer had on his leg.

Joe worked for Global Radio for nine years and served as a producer on Kemp’s breakfast show - with the pair fast becoming best friends while working together.

Upon receiving news of his sudden death during a live broadcast live week, Kemp and his co-hosts Sian Welby and Sonny Jay were immediately pulled off air.

Monday’s show then saw Kemp, 28, pay tribute to his pal and he later revealed an inking inspired by him.

Posting on his Instagram Story, Kemp explained that Lyons had a tattoo of a swallow on his leg.

“I always said it looked awful and like a pigeon,” he added, before revealing that to honour his friend, he is now the proud owner of the same tattoo, in exactly the same spot.

Kemp broke down in tears as he paid tribute to his friend and colleague during Monday's breakfast show.

“He was with me right from my very first show,” he said. “He taught me everything. I don’t know sitting in a radio studio without him. It’s really weird.

“He was kind, caring, loved dogs, he was obsessed with his daily step count. He never ironed his clothes. He loved his family so much - his dad Ivan, his mum Celia, his sister Lou. He loved his friends.

“But the thing that he loved most of all was doing this show, and he loved you, listening right now, he loved making you happy.”

Fans and famous faces shared their support for Kemp and everyone at Capital Radio.

Greg James tweeted: "This is unbearably sad news. I’m so sorry to hear this. Incredibly brave to go on air and do such an amazing tribute. Please look after yourselves. Sending all my love x."
