One of the country’s finest gardens, Great Dixter, in Rye, East Sussex, looks sensational at this time of year, but on the first weekend in October, offers another great reason to visit: a plant fair of hand-picked specialist nurseries from the UK and Europe.

This is an opportunity to buy grade-one plants from the finest sources, including the Beth Chatto Nursery, Cotswold Garden Flowers, Phoenix Perennial Plants, F Comme Fleurs from France and De Hessenhof from the Netherlands.

Friends, annual ticket holders and children under 16 go free.

Saturday 1 October and Sunday 2 October, 11am - 4pm
