Chelsea Flower Show 2016:Andy Sturgeon wins best in show as this year's medal-winning show gardens are revealed

The award-winning gardens at this year's Chelsea Flower Show have been announced, with Andy Sturgeon's garden taking the prize for best in show.

The awards for the show gardens have been announced, and it’s little surprise that the two hot favourites - Andy Sturgeon’s garden for The Telegraph and Cleve West’s naturalistic garden for the show’s sponsors, M & G, have both got Gold.

Sturgeon has achieved the highest accolade of Best In Show for his geologically-inspired garden.

There are surprisingly few Gold awards this year, just six.

The remaining four have been awarded to Jo Thompson’s The Chelsea Barracks Garden, which features a fine collection of antique French roses, James Basson’s drought-tolerant Provencal garden for L’Occitane, Chris Beardshaw’s plant-rich Morgan Stanley Garden for Great Ormond Street Hospital, where it will be later sited, and Paul Martin for Vestra Wealth’s Garden of Mindful Living, a contemporary garden designed to be a quiet, calm space.
