Designer Crafts at the Mall: 140 makes exhibit their work at Mall Galleries

A show of ceramics, furniture, wood, glassware and textiles in one of London’s best gallery spaces

Designer Crafts at the Mall: From Friday until January 19 at Mall Galleries, The Mall (near Admiralty Arch), SW1 (07531 798983)

William Morris was a founder of the Society of Designer Craftsmen, along with Walter Crane and William de Morgan, and their aspiration to perfection lives on in a show of exquisite work by 140 makers. Browse ceramics, furniture, wood, glassware (we like Sarah Wiberley’s Cameo vessels, pictured) and textiles in one of London’s best gallery spaces. The Society boasts some of Britain’s most skilled makers, says chairwoman Christine Dove, but also nurtures and promotes new, fresh talent. Discuss work/commissions with the exhibitors/curators in person, relax with a coffee and a snack, and, perhaps best of all, browse a great selection of affordable work in the shop.
