3 tequila cocktail recipes to celebrate Cinco De Mayo
Today is Cinco de Mayo, an important day in the Mexican calendar (not to be confused with Mexican Independence Day), which marks the Mexican army's victory over French forces in 1862.
To celebrate all things Mexican from the comfort of your own home, try shaking up these three Latin American tipples, from the classic mimosa to a lavender spritzer.
Mexican Mimosa
Ingredients
1 oz. Casamigos Blanco Tequila
1 oz. Blood Orange juice
2 Serrano slices
Top off with prosecco
Method
Thick rim of salt, sugar, tajin mixture (equal parts).
Combine all the ingredients into tin shaker except for the prosecco. Muddle the serrano. Add ice. Shake vigorously for 4-6 seconds.
Fine strain into a champagne flute. Top off with chilled prosecco. Garnish with upside down blood orange peel over top of cocktail.
Lavender Spritzer
Ingredients
2 oz. Casamigos Blanco Tequila
1.5 oz. Lavender syrup
.5 oz. Fresh lemon juice
.5 oz. Grapefruit juice
2 Dashes lavender bitters
Top off with grapefruit soda water
Method
Add all ingredients into shaker. Shake vigorously for 8-10 seconds. Strain into Collins glass. Add fresh ice. Garnish with lavender sprig and lemon peel.
Jalisco Mule
Ingredients
2 oz. Casamigos Blanco Tequila
1 oz. Fresh lime juice
1 oz. REAL ginger puree
4 Basil leaves
Top off with Ginger Beer
Method
Combine all ingredients into tin shaker. Muddle herbs. Add ice. Shake vigorously for 8-10 seconds. Fine strain into copper mug or rocks glass. Add fresh ice. Top off with ginger beer. Garnish with lime wheel and candied ginger.
