Stormzy has been announced as the first headliner of Glastonbury festival 2019.

The news was broken via a Glastonbury Free Press poster, which was displayed in a Oxfam shop in Streatham today.

The grime artist was one of the artists rumoured to be headlining the event, with more acts to be announced over the coming months.

The 25-year-old grime star has experienced a meteoric rise since first coming to prominence with the single Shut Up in 2015.

The rapper went on to release the number one album Gang Signs and Prayer, winning international acclaim and picking up two Brit Awards earlier this year.

Stormzy performed at the last Glastonbury festival in 2017, delivering a set on the Other Stage.

There is much speculation about the other headline acts, with the likes of Paul McCartney, Madonna, ABBA, Kylie Minogue and the Cure all rumoured to be performing.

Tickets for Glastonbury sold out within 32 minutes last month, with many fans left disappointed.

Glastonbury takes place from Wednesday June 26 to Sunday June 30 2019 at Worthy Farm in Somerset.
