Whitton was first mentioned in historical documents around 1200, though more recently in Victorian times it was renowned as a 'Market Garden' due to it's abundance of orchards. Not until the arrival of the local railway station in 1930 did the area start to become more urbanised.
Local attractions include the famous military music school, Kneller Hall, while the home of Rugby Union, Twickenham is just a short walk away.
Today Whitton is fortunate because it has managed to keep it's friendly village feel despite it's suburban setting. With Richmond and Twickenham close by and Waterloo station only 25 minutes away by train, Whitton's affordable housing in comparison to it's neighbours is very much in demand.
