Carole Baskin has opened up about the effect Tiger King has had on her life.

The 59-year-old, who shot to worldwide fame after she featured in the Netflix documentary series, welled up when she discussed the programme with her Dancing With The Stars partner Pasha Pashkov.

In a teaser for the dance show, The Big Cat Rescue head talked about the trolling she is victim of on social media.

“I keep it inside. That is the absolute worst of this,” she is seen saying.

The eight-part Tiger King, which was available to watch on the streaming platform from March, made something of an anti-hero of Joe Exotic, who is currently serving 22 years in prison on two counts of hiring someone to murder Baskin and multiple violations of animal welfare laws.

Elsewhere, Baskin has been subject to wide-scale trolling, after the programme delved deeper into the disappearance of Baskin’s ex-husband, Don Lewis.

While Exotic accused Baskin of killing her ex-husband and feeding him to tigers, Baskin has repeatedly and strenuously denied any involvement in her husband’s disappearance, and has never faced any charges.

Speaking about her portrayal on the show, Baskin recently told People: “I am not at all the person I was portrayed in Tiger King. I am not the money grabbing, gold-digging, murderous person that they portrayed.

"I am the type of person who will come after any person who is abusing animals. I am relentless. I just won't stop until I find some legal way to make it stop. From that perspective, I think they got me right.

"Me as a person, that was a total assassination of my character for nothing other than whatever money they could get for selling that to Netflix."

During the show, Lewis’s family paid for an advertisement looking for information around his disappearance.
