Plenty to shout about

Sophie-Louise Dann and four fellow divas will be tripping back to the "fab and groovy" mood of the Sixties in new West End show Shout!

With Lizzie Deane, Hilary O'Neil, Catherine Porter and Gemma Wardle, Dann opens at the little Jermyn Street Theatre next Tuesday in the revue which pays tribute to famous female singers of the period.

So, on the bill are songs such as Dusty Springfield's Son of a Preacher Man, Petula Clark's Downtown, Cilla Black's You're My World and, of course, Lulu's Shout.

Sophie did the show off-Broadway earlier this year and, apart from a diversion to appear in The Mikado at the Savoy Theatre, has spent most of the year getting it over here.

"It's a cracking evening," she said. "One that is done with broad brushstrokes. We are all kookily dressed - it's big hair and big fashion.

"Of course it's a nostalgia trip for some but, as the success of Mamma Mia! has shown, there's a whole new generation waiting to hear these great songs."
