Award winner's bit of Brent

Ben Willbond: Excellent delivery

Ben Willbond, the funny half of PrioritÈ ¿ Gauche, has clearly grown bored of milking that let's-all-laugh-atthe-French gag year after year.

Last year, he wrote new material on his own and won the Perrier Best Newcomer award. This year, he's joined by Jim Field Smith (of Dutch Elm Conservatoire) and Fringe debutante Katy Brand; the material's all brand new and fans will be pleased to see he's lost none of his sparkle.

With a scary talent for character acting and that devastating sense of how far he can push a joke and how long he can draw out the wind-up before the punchline, Willbond's star should continue to rise.

However, crap hit man The Fox isn't the best character to open the show. But if Willbond doesn't win audiences round with his psychotic estate agent Dermot he certainly does with his posh parents. And his nerdy physicist Colin Jackson is a gem. Even if it's all a bit David Brent, the material is painfully accurate and Willbond's delivery is excellent.

  • Until Mon, Pleasance Courtyard, 9.20pm, £9.50 to £10.50, £8 to £9 concs.
