Ravers' paradise: Forbidden Forests is taking place this weekend

This Saturday pack a bum bag, hop on the train, have a day of revelry and end up back in your own bed — ideal.

Loughborough is hosting a one-day immersive forest festival described as a ravers paradise and it's only an hour and 15 mins away by train from London.

Forbidden Forest marks the end of the UK festival season and will surely end it with a bang. Wymeswold Forest will welcome 12,000 dance music enthusiasts on Saturday for a day of pure joy and non-stop dancing between the trees.

The crowd is a young and hedonistic one, likely to be sporting some pretty outlandish costumes for those who didn't make it to Burning Man (although it's not quite the same set). Forbidden Forest has a unique concept, running this festival in both May and September and has quite the cult following, swiftly selling out five times in a row.

For this September’s edition they are debuting a brand new location, one that has never been used for an event of this kind. Wymeswold Forest was once used as a World War II firing range and training ground for the Ministry of Defence. It's now lush, overgrown and the perfect spot to escape the city and surround yourself with beauty and big beats.

The production will blow you away with lasers, pyrotechnics and all manner of special effects. Expect sparks, confetti, streamers, Co2 and smoke-filled bubbles from the boys at Dynamite FX — there's certainly going to be a lot to take in.

Don't miss The Express Stage featuring a derailed Orient Express train carriage hosted by Solid Grooves with a mega line up including Hector Couto, Denis Cruz and PAWSA. Whatever you do, don't miss Route 94 (8pm-9.30pm) who blew the crowd away at Lovebullets at Glastonbury last summer.

Each of the five stages is hosted by a record label or party brand, which is genius as you know where to head to find the beat you're craving. For example, The Manor hosted by Playaz will get you your fix of drum and bass and The Ractor hosted by Area 10 is tech house paradise.

Check out Eli Brown (5.30-6.30pm) who sensationally closed SW4 a couple of weeks ago. Get to The Rift for ANTS regular Andrea Oliva (3pm-4.30pm) and make sure you don’t miss CamelPhat (8pm-9.30pm). These boys are on a serious roll and have just started work on their album. They never fail to completely nail it and set the vibe on fire.

Get your 11 hour fix of underground music with no need to pack or camp, it seems like a no brainer — see you there.
