Xbox Game Pass February games

Out of nowhere, Dead Island 2 has landed on Game Pass. The zombie-slaying sequel came out last April, after almost a decade-long wait. For now, it’s only available to Game Pass Ultimate members, meaning it should be available on consoles, PC and the cloud.

Surprisingly, Xbox made no mention of the game in its latest Game Pass blog post announcing this month’s newcomers. Instead, its arrival was made public on the official Dead Island 2 website.

How about the rest of the pack? With its mix of operatic sci-fi and fantasy pageantry, Tales of Arise could scratch that JRPG itch for Final Fantasy fans. Meanwhile, Warhammer 40,000 Boltgun is a throwback shooter that would be right at home next to Doom and Duke Nukem.

If you’re craving something more thought-provoking, Return to Grace is a first-person narrative game that asks big questions about existence and artificial intelligence. If nothing else, its retro-futuristic visuals should appeal to Fallout aficionados.

Staying with sci-fi, Space Engineers sounds like a smaller-scale No Man’s Sky, complete with galactic adventures on custom-built spaceships. Or, if you just want some mindless fun, there’s the shark-infested waters of Maneater.

It’s already been an eventful year for Xbox Game Pass. In January, Palworld became the biggest third-party game on the subscription gaming service, thanks in no small part to its high-concept reimagining of Pokemon as a survival-crafting game. Soon, another blockbuster will be added to the service when Diablo 4 arrives on March 28.

Xbox also just confirmed the four games it’s releasing on rival consoles, after months of speculation. Pentiment is out today on PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch; Hi-Fi Rush lands on PS5 on March 19; Grounded follows on PS4, PS5 and Switch on April 16; and Sea of Thieves cruises on to PS5 on April 30.
