UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN X Cert 12a, 113 mins

Diane Lane plays yet another depressed wife brought back to life by a new man in a closefitting shirt (see her previous films Unfaithful and A Walk on the Moon). This time she is a divorcee finding her feet in Tuscany, where she has bought a run-down holiday villa. She never seems to do any work, but has a lot of money to spend on fresh figs for her Polish builders. Then she meets Marcello, a man with espresso eyes and his own bar. It is all pure fantasy, cloyingly so, with some of the most ridiculous Italian-extra acting imaginable, as people strum on guitars and write poems sitting on medieval steps.

WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE Cert 12a, 103 mins

This stars new action hero The Rock on a mission to save Seann William Scott from a rumble in the Brazilian jungle. Rock seems quite a nice chap, really, very sincere, speaking in surprisingly sensible, joined-up sentences. He is, mind you, as big as an Alp and makes Arnold Schwarzenegger - who appears in the opening scene, walking out of a disco, like Elvis leaving the building - look like a mere slip of a thing.

AGENT CODY BANKS 2: DESTINATION LONDON X 99 mins, Cert 12a

The 16-year-old CIA operative (Frankie Muniz) travels to London on a mission which involves him rushing around Shoreditch in a black cab turned into a surveillance vehicle. Strictly for children.

FEAR X Cert 12a, 91 mins

Sweet John Turturro tries to find out who murdered his wife, but the pretentious Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn soon renders sense and meaning missing, presumed dead.
