Hollywood in the Fifties put its faith in technical gimmickry such as 3-D.

Kiss Me Kate was one of the few films which used the new ruse to deceive the eye with pleasant surprises.

The film owes its durability more to the Howard Keel and Kathryn Grayson, who can match the story of a married couple quarrelling backstage in The Taming Of The Shrew with melodious performances of Cole Porter's lyrics.
