Horror tops romance for film fans

A poll of the 100 best movie moments reveals that horror outstrips romance in the affections of cinemagoers.

Top choice in the survey by moviechoices.com is the graphic opening of Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan, which shows casualties during the Allied landing on Omaha beach in 1944.

Second is the scene in Alien when the creature bursts from John Hurt's chest. Titanic is in third place, though not for the final embrace between Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, but for the moment the ship sinks. Fourth is the surprise final scene in The Sixth Sense, involving Bruce Willis's character.
