He’s an American stand-up who has recorded hundreds of interviews with most of the big names in American comedy such as Louis CK, Sarah Silverman, Chris Rock and Judd Apatow, as well as the occasional musician and actor. Maron often frames the conversation by talking about his own anxieties but he’s also a very skilled interviewer. Many recent episodes are on iTunes but the app allows you to dig down into his sizeable archive.
She’s done some bits on YouTube called, distressingly, “Comedy Blaps” but they’re enough to show you someone who has some good, weird ideas about comedy and is a very talented, funny performer. It’ll be interesting to see what O’Doherty does next. I bet she’ll be a big star.
Sasso is a Canadian actor and comedian who has applied his talents very successfully to these six second “Vines” videos that, once uploaded, can be viewed in a demented loop. All Vines drive you a bit nuts after a while so small doses are recommended.
4. Tim Key
If Key were just a stand-up, he’d probably remain an enjoyable fringe concern (hey, nothing wrong with that!) but I think his books of poetry are kind of amazing and he’s also one of the most consistently funny actors I can think of. The One and Only Herb McGwyer Plays Wallis Island is a short film Key did with his equally talented pal, Tom Basden. Constantly surprising, strange but sweet-natured.
