The Royal Alexandra Quarter
on the site of the old Royal Alexandra Children’s hospital is a Taylor Wimpey development of 108 (14 affordable) one-, two- and three-bedroom new and refurbished flats. There will be 20 flats in the old hospital building and the remainder will be in five new-build blocks at the rear. The first residents move in at the end of the 2013 with the development complete at the end of 2014. Prices start at £260,000 for a one-bedroom flat.

Most Brighton new homes developments are small in scale. The Cliftons (Hamptons 01273 230230) in Clifton Hill and Powis Grove in the Montepelier area is a development of five townhouses by River Oak Homes. Prices start at £1.295 million for a three-bedroom terrace.

Eastwoods (Marchants: 01273 541177) is a development of nine terraces houses in Ditchling Road in the Fiveways area. Prices start at £599,950 for a four-bedroom house.

Clifton Central (Mishon Mackay: 01273 829300) is a development of eight eco-homes close to the station in St Nicholas Road by Cedarmill Developments. Prices start at £500,000 for a four-bedroom house.

Denes Mews (Baron Estates 01273 779777) is a development of eight townhouses on the high street in Rottingdean by Novus Property Developments. Prices start at £460,000 for a three-bedroom townhouse.

Winton Cottages (Mishon Mackay: 01273 829300) in Falmer Road is a development of six cottages with prices starting at £385,000 for a three-bedroom terrace.

The Barrows (Hyde New Homes: 0845 606 1331) in Francis Street is a development of 60 one-, two- and three-bedroom flats for shared ownership. One-bedroom flats start from a value of £180,000 and the minimum share is 40 per cent or £72,000.
