Goodman’s Fields is a Berkeley Homes development of 920 (174 affordable for rent and shared ownership and 76 for intermediate rent) studios, one, two and three bedroom flats and penthouses on a seven acre site on Leman Street, south of Aldgate East tube station.
The development of towers is arranged around three new squares and a central piazza. Designed by architects Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands it is fancifully described as taking its inspiration from the towers in the Italian hill town of St Gimignano. The first phase, Silk House, a 21-storey tower, and the second phase, Satin House, an 18-storey tower, are selling off-plan for completion in 2015. Prices start at £850,000.
Cityscape is a development of 209 (68 affordable including 13 shared ownership) homes developed by Telford Homes. The affordable properties are in the refurbished Denning Point and are available through housing association Eastend Homes. The remaining 128 studios, one, two and three bedroom flats are in a new 12-storey tower and are available off-plan for completion in the spring of next year. Prices of currently available flats start at £740,000 for a three-bedroom ground-floor flat.
One Commercial Street is a mixed use 21-storey tower by Redrow. There will be offices in the first six floors; 70 affordable flats (58 for rent and 12 for shared ownership, available through housing association Network Housing Group) on floors seven to 11; and 137 private sales studio, one, two, three bedroom flats and three bedroom penthouses on the floors 11 to 21.
Off-plan sales are available in The Tower Apartments and The City Collection for occupation either at the end of the year or in the spring and summer of 2014. Prices for the two bedroom flats start at £720,000.
Altitude is a joint venture between Barratt Homes and housing association L&Q on Whitechapel High Street. The lower floors will contain shops and offices, the upper floors in the 27 floor tower block will have 235 (64 affordable for rent and shared ownership) one, two and three bedroom flats and penthouses. Prices start at £595,000 for a one bedroom flat and the first occupiers move in during October 2013.
