Kentish Town, Tufnell Park and Archway are on the High Barnet branch of the Northern Line. Holloway Road is on the Piccadilly Line. From Kentish Town there are Thameslink trains to Farringdon and City Thames. All stations are in Zone 2 and an annual travelcard to Zone 1 costs £1,284.
Stingray is a popular bar and restaurant that serves a great pizza, while Nuraghe on Dartmouth Park Hill is another Italian gem. For a taste of Africa try Lalibela, which specialises in Ethiopian cuisine. Rustique Café on Fortess Road is a long-standing favourite with the locals and has a vast array of second-hand books, which you can read or buy.
Leisure and the arts
Aces and Eights puts on comedy, DJs and live music in a Fifties-style rock ‘n’ roll cocktail bar. Boston Music Room and The Dome are another two live music venues. Boston Arms is a traditional Irish pub, while Islington Arts Factory offers courses and workshops in art, dance and music. The Odeon on Holloway Road is an eight-screen cinema.
Tufnell Park has a number of local parks: Tufnell Park Playing Fields on Campdale Road, Foxham Gardens on Foxham Road and the largest, Whittington Park on Holloway Road, has a football pitch, free outdoor gym, table tennis tables and a children’s playground with sandpits and a water play feature. Hampstead Heath is in walking distance.
