From £390,000: for a two-bedroom flat at new development City Mills

Dalston Square is a large new Barratt Homes development on Dalston Lane next to the new Dalston Junction station. The development includes a brand new square – claiming to be the largest new London square for 100 years - a new library, a gym and nine new shops. The flats are now all sold.

The City Mills is a development of nine new blocks containing 760 new one-, two- and three-bedroom flats on Haggerston Road by housing association L&Q. The latest phase of only two-bedroom flats has recently launched with prices starting at £390,000. A selection of one-, two- and three-bedroom flats and four-bedroom houses will be available towards the end of 2014 for shared ownership.

Two major regeneration schemes currently before the planners are meeting local opposition. The redevelopment of the Kingsland shopping centre to include 500 new homes will involve the destruction of a much loved community garden; while it is being argued that a plan for a 19-storey residential tower block next to Dalston Kingsland station is out of character.
