Clapham’s private prep schools are popular with Clapham’s wealthy residents. Eaton House The Manor (co-ed, ages two to 13) and Parkgate (co-ed, ages two to 11) are both on Clapham Common, the Catholic Oliver House (co-ed, ages two to 11) is in Nightingale Road.

However, it is not hard to find a state primary school that is judged “outstanding” by the government’s education watchdog Ofsted; they are: Clapham Manor in Belmont Road, St Mary’s RC in Crescent Lane and Macaulay CofE in Victoria Rise.

Wix in Wix’s Lane is a state primary school which has brought many French families to the area. It shares its site with a fee-paying French state lycee and the primary school itself has a bi-lingual stream where half the classes are taught in French and half in English. Iqra, in Park Hill, is a state-funded Muslim primary school.

Lambeth Academy (co-ed, ages 11 to 18) in Elms Road is the local state comprehensive; it is judged “good”. St Francis Xavier sixth form college (co-ed, ages 16 to 18) is a Catholic sixth form college that is judged “outstanding”.
