A father and daughter have teamed up to produce amazing balloon art in tribute to NHS workers battling the coronavirus pandemic.

Craig Cash, 39, and his nine-year-old daughter Olivia Mae have been modelling their sculptures outside the family home in Horncastle, a market town in Lincolnshire.

Mr Cash, a part-time balloon twister for local business Twist and Make Balloons, told the Standard he settled on the plan for a public show of support once the ongoing nationwide lockdown came into effect last month.

"We wanted to show big love for the NHS and for all the key workers and brighten up our neighbourhood," he said, adding the project was also a way of spending more time with his daughter.

He said the pair hoped to "bring a bit of colour into peoples lives in this very grey time".

Among their creations - each of which take two or three hours to complete - have been a huge heart emblazoned with "NHS" and a floral arrangement surrounding a garage door with the word "Hope" penned on it.

They have also taken on the challenge of recreating NHS fundraising hero Captain Tom Moore in balloon form.

The 99-year-old war veteran has recently attracted widespread praise for raising £27 million for healthcare workers by doing 100 laps of his garden.

Captain Tom hasn't been too busy to pick up on Mr Cash's efforts, however, and took to Twitter to commend the sculpture's likeness to himself.

"Wow - it looks like me," he said.

Mr Cash meanwhile said it was "fantastic" to know the pieces of balloon artwork were raising spirits at such a difficult time, with neighbours and social media users alike offering positive feedback.

"People have loved them in person and online," he said.

"They have cheered them up."
