Wolves 0-1 Sevilla: Raul Jimenez pays penalty as Lucas Ocampos puts LaLiga side into Europa League semi-finals

Lucas Ocampos’ late header saw Sevilla edge out Wolves in the last eight of the Europa League and set up a semi-final meeting with Manchester United.

Sevilla dominated possession for most of the night in a match featuring very few clear chances.

But Wolves missed the best chance of the first half after Diego Carlos brought down Adama Traore after 12 minutes and Raul Jimenez saw a weak penalty saved by Bono.

Julen Lopetegui’s side had the better of it after that as Wolves seemed content to wait for their chance on the break, but were unable to find Traore in dangerous areas.

The Spanish side, five-time winners of this competition, won a series of corners towards the end of the match and eventually found the breakthrough two minutes from time.

One of those was played short to Ever Banega and the Argentine curled in for compatriot Ocampos to glance a fine header past Rui Patricio.

Sevilla will now meet Manchester United in the last four, with Shakhtar Donetsk in action against Inter Milan in the other semi-final after they thrashed FC Basel 4-1 on Tuesday.

A difficult task awaits for Wolves tonight, but they have already beaten some top teams in the competition.

But Sevilla, unlike a lot of teams, have a glorious history with the Europa League. Five-time winners and three years in a row from 2014 to 2016.

They haven't won it since but with a top coach such as Julen Lopetegui at the helm, the Andalusian club will be hoping to take one step closer to glory tonight.

With that in mind, Wolves will need to be at their very best to stop them.

Team news

Wolves will be without Jonny for the rest of their Europa League campaign after damaging his right anterior cruciate ligament.

The Spanish wing back sustained the injury in the first half of their 1-0 Europa League win over Olympiakos on Thursday and will require surgery.

"A scan confirmed the first clinical impression of an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament which will require surgical repair," Wolves doctor Matt Perry said. "This has been arranged and the whole team wish Jonny well on his path to recovery."

The club otherwise have a clean bill of health.
