We are independent estate agents and valuers in Worthing, West Sussex that have been offering the highest level of services since 1825.

The company was originally established in Worthing in 1825 and in 1870 was better known as E C Patching.

In the 19th century it offered a range of services locally, including house and estate agency, auctioneers, builders and undertakers, with offices in Bedford Row.

In 1885 the company moved to Chapel Road and South Street before merging with a local firm to become Patching and Jordan.

This furthered the company's interests and soon a furnishing warehouse and removals service was added, together with another office in Warwick Street.

In 1888, the company reverted back to its original name of E C Patching and it changed once again seven years later to Patching & Co.

Mr Patching was appointed mayor of Worthing in the early 1900s and by 1930 the company occupied numbers one, three and five Chapel Road with further estate offices at Railway Approach, together with its Goring Road office.

In 1970 the company was bought from the Patching family by Mr Scammel because there were no men in the Patching family to take over.

Two years later the company was sold to Duncan Sutcliffe and Commander Boyd, with another estate agents opening in Broadwater in 1974.

Another five years passed before the company changed hands again, this time to Frank Vooght.

In 1984 the business was bought by Neil Cummings, with just the single office at 72 Goring Road, and became today's familiar company. Patchings.

Since then, quality customer care and professional staff have rocketed the business to success and its independent roots have served to offer a more personal and reliable service for customers.
