Area information

Kingsleys Estates are based in Golders Green which is in south of the London Borough of Barnet. The town is bordered to the south east by Child's Hill, to the north east by Hampstead Garden Suburb and by Hendon to the north and west. The A598 and A502 intersect the town centre and these provide a main vehicular access to the Central London & the City. Junction 1 of the M1 motorway is located to the west at Staples Corner providing easy access to the North.

Golders Green is highly accessible by both car and public transport served by 2 Northern line underground stations (the 2nd being Brent Cross) and has a strong role as a busy transport interchange. There is an attractive town centre and it is close to the main north west London shopping centre of Brent Cross. Nearby is the popular Hampstead Heath and the area is also served by the well known Golders Hill Park.

The character of Golders Green is that of a cosmopolitan urban centre with largely uniform early twentieth century architecture. It has long been established as a major centre for a diverse range of ethnic communities. The centre plays a very important civic and community role particularly in relation to the large Jewish community with facilities including many synagogues and churches for all denominations, which provide space for community activities.

The town has developed into an attractive busy centre with diverse retail shops and well known, longstanding Sunday trading. There is a public library, the only one in the area open on Sunday afternoons, a popular service attracting many people to the area.

A large area of Golders Green is a conservation area contributing to an overall high environmental quality. The streetscapes are pleasant with well kept, attractive, buildings.

Golders Green is perceived to be a safe area not only during shopping hours but also in the evenings because of the large amount of evening activities. The area is well represented by many neighbourhood watch schemes. The borough of Barnet has the lowest number of crimes per head of population in London translating into lower insurance premiums for the area.

Property prices in Golders Green have always been generally higher than outer London averages. Prices start around £175,000 for flats rising to £500,000 for luxury apartments. Houses commence at about £350,000 increasing to over £1 million for the larger family homes. This premium reflects the better quality of life in the area, for example in terms of education facilities when compared to other Outer London Boroughs.

There are many other features the area has to offer and we are sure that a personal visit to Kingsleys Estates will only serve to enhance your opinion and we invite you to come to our air-conditioned offices when you start your visit.
