The borough encompasses some 6,398 hectacres and, with a population of approximately 90,000, is one of the larger towns in Surrey. Located in the south-east of the country, Woking is 26 miles south-west of London and is surrounded by beautiful countryside, much of which is green belt.
Prices range from £110,000 for studio apartments through to the grandest of homes at £4,000,000.00. The villages surrounding the town include Pirbright, Horsell, Chobham, Mayford, Knaphill, West End, Brookwood, Worplesdon, West Byfleet, Pyrford, Woodham, Ottershaw, Sutton Green, Westfield, Send and Ripley. The town centre remains most popular with the commuter.
Woking has one of the finest rail services into London with trains leaving almost every 3 minutes in the rush hour - the fastest service reaching Waterloo in just 25 minutes. The Heathrow coach link leaves the station every ½ hour, taking approximately 45 minutes to reach its destination. Gatwick Airport is 28 miles distant, the M25, junctions 10 and 11 are about 5 miles and the A3 and M3 are both about 6 miles away.
Two large indoor centres, the newest of which is the Peacocks. Large retailers include Debenhams, Boots, BHS, Marks & Spencer, WH SMith, Woolworths, Next and Sainsbury, as well as many specialised designer shops.
