Curchods, Walton-on-Thames
Walton on Thames as the name implies is adjacent to the River Thames. The busy high street in the town encompasses several large retail outlets to include Woolworth, Boots and WH Smith complementing the many private independent retailers offering more specialist services. A large re-development programme has recently commenced which is in two phases, the first being a Sainsbury's superstore with parking above. The second phase started in February 2004 and is scheduled to be completed in the course of 2006. It will encompass many new retail outlets and will certainly put Walton on the map as having one of the best shopping centres between Kingston upon Thames and Guildford.
Leisure facilities in Walton and Hersham include The Screen 2 cinema and athletic and football ground where Walton and Hersham play, an indoor public swimming pool and leisure centre. There is also a public golf course in Hersham village and a number of private facilities to include the David Lloyd Club close-by in Weybridge.
Two stations, Walton on Thames and Hersham both give access to London Waterloo in under 30 minutes. A strong reason why commuters live here. Heathrow airport is within about 20 minutes drive, if avoiding the M.25! Junctions 10 and 11 of the M.25 are both easily accessible and in turn access the M3, A3 and M4.
There is a great variety of property in the vicinity with one bedroom flats starting at around £160,000 and a number of two bedroom apartments from about £180,000 upwards. Styles vary from Edwardian villas to more modern estates, good family homes can be found from about £250,000 for a three bedroom semi detached and about £400,000 for a larger semi.
There are two private estates, Ashley and Burwood Park where houses generally start at around £1,000,000 to in excess of £2,500,000.
