Curchods, Guildford

When the Curchods journey first began, we were determined never to be the subject of the horror stories so often told about estate agents. Our aim was to ensure we stood out in a world of service mediocrity, by providing outstanding customer care, quality professional advice and a determination to realise our clients' objectives. We understand the unique pressures of buying and selling property and are committed to making the transaction as smooth, fast and stress free as possible.

The responsibility of handling the sale or purchase of what is likely to be your most expensive asset and probably your best tax free investment opportunity, must be consigned to someone with integrity, who you can trust. As members of the National Association of Estate Agents and the Ombudsman for Estate Agents, we are bound by vigorously enforced Codes of Practice and professional Rules of Conduct. Our greatest asset is our reputation and we will never do anything to compromise our high ethical principles.

The county town of Guildford combines history with modern living and is situated in a highly convenient geographical position.

Derived from the Saxon "Golden Ford", it emerged as an important centre, which has been a borough for over 1,000 years. Guildford started with its own Royal Mint (975 to 979) continuing through the wool industry when Guildford Blue and Kersey cloth became internationally acclaimed. When this industry began to tail off, it became an important staging point between London and Portsmouth which led to the building of a number of large coaching inns on the High Street. The Angel Hotel still shows the remnants with its coaching yard and woollen gallery.

The opening of the Wey Navigation canal during the 1600's gave the town even greater prosperity.

In 1683, the Guild Hall was built with its famous clock which now overlooks the town's superb shopping facilities.

In 1845, the railway was built linking Portsmouth and London, and today acts as the "road to work" for many Guildford commuters.

Completing the High Street are the White Lion Walk and Friary shopping centres along with various well placed car parks. North Street, parallel to the High Street houses the weekly fruit, vegetable and flower market, and the areas main supermarkets can be found close by at Burpham and Ladymead.

The leisure facilities now offered in Guildford are outstanding, and include the "state of the art" Spectrum Leisure Centre, which incorporates an ice-rink (Guildford now has its own Ice Hockey team) and this, combined with the multi screened Odeon Cinema, and the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre makes Guildford a town with something for everyone.

As a commuter, you have access to the A3, M3 and M25 motorways, together with an excellent train service to London (Waterloo 35 minutes).
